The Public Humanities Collaborative, will fund up to 16 Trinity undergraduates (with $3500 stipends plus housing) for ten weeks from May 20 to July 26th, 2019. During that time, Hartford-area humanities partners will work with a team of 2-4 Trinity-funded students for approximately 15 hours a week on a humanities project that engages a public audience; students will also spend 15 hours a week working with a Trinity faculty member on an academic research project. All three groups–students, faculty, and partners–will participate in weekly lunchtime workshops on collaborative strategies and digital tools for the humanities. Partners and faculty will receive modest stipends for mentoring students and participating in weekly workshops.
Possible projects might include:
- A new exhibit
- An oral history collection
- An interactive website
- An educational curriculum or teaching materials
- A public performance
- A series of community discussions or presentations
Applications from Hartford-area humanities partners are due by January 31st, 2019. We welcome applications from organizations of any size or type, and two or more partners may apply together, as long as your humanities work engages with a public audience.
